Elk are common for Northern Pennsylvania. One of the largest species in a deer family, they are also known as wapiti. Elk in Pennsylvania were wiped out entirely by 1867. At the beginning of 20 century, elk were trapped and transferred to PA from Yellowstone. If you want to see a herd of elk in the wild, visit Benezette (Elk County, PA). I hope that my pictures will expire you to do so!
